About
I offer a comprehensive range of mental health, mental performance, and educational services tailored to the unique needs of high-performance individuals
Dr. Shaunna Taylor, PhD (she/her)
I offer a unique combination of expertise as a mental health practitioner and certified mental performance consultant. This dual focus allows me to help athletes, coaches, and performers from diverse fields overcome mental barriers, unlock peak performance, and foster lasting mental well-being.
In addition to my clinical and consulting work, I’m a faculty member at the University of British Columbia (UBC), teaching applied sport and performance psychology courses. I’m committed to lifelong learning and creating inclusive, safe learning spaces for growth - whether you're an individual performer or part of a team. I practice from a perspective of a culturally safe and trauma-informed lens for all my clients. I use a social justice approach and advocacy counselling as I believe this is critical for self-empowerment but also system change.
If you're ready to explore how mental performance and mental health can unlock your full potential, I’d love to help. I have a hybrid practice in Vancouver, British Columbia, and I consult across Canada and internationally. Whether you’re looking to improve your focus, manage stress, build resilience, or enhance team dynamics, I’m here to guide you. Reach out today to see how we can work together to tailor strategies that support your journey to success.

Evidence-Based Approaches
My services are grounded in evidence-based modalities, including cognitive-behavioral techniques (CBT), mindfulness practices (such as dialectical behaviour therapy [DBT] and acceptance and commitment therapy [ACT]), and other mind-body approaches such as biofeedback. I also offer “walk and talk therapy” - integrating human connection and movement in the outdoors - as the seasons allow. Using nature-based therapies and conducting therapeutic conversations outdoors while moving can have an enhanced effect!
I am committed to differentiated instruction, ensuring that each individual or group learns in the way that works best for them
We work together to help you achieve your own, or your team’s full potential by focusing on the following areas:
-
· Performance-Enhancing Skills
Learn tailored strategies specific to your sport (or activity) that improve focus, motivation, and consistency.
-
· Mind-Body Connection
Understand how your thoughts, emotions, and physical state work together to influence performance, and how to optimize this connection.
-
· Mental Health Awareness
Equip yourself with the resources to manage stress, anxiety, and other mental health challenges that can impact your performance.
-
· Social and Group Dynamics
Strengthen communication, trust, and cohesion within teams and between athletes and coaches.
-
· Coach/Leader Education
Integrate mental performance and mental health strategies into your daily environment, helping leaders foster a mentally strong team culture.
-
· Concrete Goal-Setting
My consulting approach involves setting short and long term goals as part of the learning and transformation process.
